Our History
The activity of our ceramics Manufaktura is not only about the production of handmade pottery. It also involves nurturing the tradition of Bolesławiec ceramics and preserving it despite the passing years and changing fashions. Thanks to cooperation with important urban centers, organizing cultural events, and conducting pottery workshops, we can promote local products both within Poland and far beyond its borders.
This is a place where tradition meets modernity, creating a unique and inspiring world of ceramic artworks. Here, in the heart of Bolesławiec, the ceramic industry, rooted in over three centuries of history, flourishes. Nurturing traditional craftsmanship combined with innovative approaches forms the foundation of our Manufaktura.
Preserving Tradition in the Ceramic Manufaktura
In our Manufaktura, we reflect a deep respect and love for ceramic traditions. Here, artisans strive to preserve the spirit of historical techniques, patterns, and decorations characteristic of Bolesławiec ceramics. Passing knowledge and skills from generation to generation strengthens this extraordinary heritage. This approach encompasses the entire pottery creation process – from selecting high-quality clay as a raw material, to shaping, glazing, and firing at high temperatures. By adhering to these traditional methods, Bolesławiec ceramics retains its unique character and aesthetic.
Cooperation with the Museum
The Manufactory works closely with the Ceramic Museum in Bolesławiec, which has been collecting local stoneware for over half a century. Among the more than 6,000 exhibits, there are both unusual vessels and classic Bolesławiec products decorated with cobalt using the stamping method. A museum curiosity is the replica of the Great Jug of Master Joppe (from 1753), once considered the largest vessel in the world (with a capacity of 2,000 liters). We warmly invite you to visit the museum!
City of Fine Pottery
City of Fine Pottery
According to historical records, the tradition of Bolesławiec ceramics dates back to 1830. The development of pottery in the city was influenced by the exceptional natural resources of the surrounding area, such as rich deposits of fireproof clay and earthenware glazes. Additionally, the favorable geographical location at the crossroads of trade routes sparked interest in local products among merchants, travelers, and elites crossing the world. The increased demand for beautiful jugs and plates led pottery production to become the main occupation of the local residents, contributing to the region's development and spreading its fame abroad. The high quality of Bolesławiec pottery quickly earned it the title of the "City of Fine Pottery." These traditions have not disappeared, and even today, Bolesławiec is a place where ceramics reign.

Childhood is a time when a person discovers the world, eagerly acquires new skills, and uncovers their passions. We hope that through the ceramic workshops we organize for children, we can share our love for ceramics and its creation with the youngest.
We also encourage entire families to join the workshops, as ceramics can be a shared family passion, passed down from generation to generation. Additionally, ceramic activities for children have a positive impact on their development: they foster imagination and artistic sensitivity, while also improving manual skills. Children learn to be creative, design their own works, and bring their ideas to life. Furthermore, creating ceramics requires precision and patience, which serves as excellent practice for young participants. Such workshops can also have a relaxing and calming effect – not just on children. The pride of having made a piece of pottery by hand is invaluable.
